An audit released by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor says Maxine Trahan, former deputy and spokesperson for the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office, allegedly stole more money than initially reported.

Last April, KPEL News reported Maxine Trahan was fired and booked with felony theft in excess of $25,000. At the time, officials said she was accused of keeping more than $48,000 that she was supposed to process into the District Attorney's Special Asset Forfeiture Fund, according to our news partners at KATC. But the audit from the Louisiana Legislative Auditor indicates the figure was actually $194,500.

Trahan is also accused of allegedly taking advantage of an older lady and stealing from her as well.
