Former Ragin’ Cajun Raymond Calais Waived By Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Raymond Calais, former UL Ragin' Cajuns running back, may not play a snap for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as he was waived by the team earlier today.

Calais joined the new-look Bucs as a seventh-round pick in April's NFL draft. He was one of two running backs the team drafted. Ke-Shawn Vaughn out of Vanderbilt was picked in the third round.

The team also cut another running back earlier in the day with the release of Dare Ogunbowale.

The good news for Calais though is that the team has reportedly expressed interest in bringing him back on the practice squad.

As many fans around here know, Tampa Bay recently signed former LSU running back Leonard Fournette after he was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He'll team up with Ronald Jones, veteran LeSean McCoy and Vaughn in the Bucs backfield to start the season.

And of course, the Bucs, with new quarterback Tom Brady, face the New Orleans Saints in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday, September 13.
