According to our media partner, KATC-TV 3, "The stabilizer on each plane includes a reference to the New World Order conspiracy theory--the Eye of Providence and the initials "NWO." For some, this theory includes the belief that the 9-11 attacks were carried out by the United States Government."

Lafayette Fire Chief Robert Benoit released the following statement today in response to the monument defacing,

It is very disappointing that someone would deface Lafayette’s 9/11 Memorial in such away as to dishonor the people and the first responders who lost their lives protecting this nation. This incident will not overshadow our remembrance and honoring of September 11, 2001, twelve years ago. We encourage the public to help the police department locate the individual(s) responsible for this act.

This all comes on the day of the 12 year anniversary of the attacks on 9/11.

Lafayette police are asking anyone with information on this incident to please call them at 337-232-TIPS.
