LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- A homeless man is wanted on a charge of attempted simple robbery following a Saturday evening incident near Girard Park. The same man is also now a person of interest in connection with last week's carjackings targeting women, according to Lafayette Police.

The victim says she was near of of the Code Blue phones on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and when she was able to activate it, Alfred ran away.

A short time later, a fourth woman was carjacked at gunpoint nearby on Johnston Street.

Mouton says Alfred is "considered a person of interest in connection to the recent armed robberies that have occurred within the City of Lafayette."

If you have any idea where Alfred may be, you're asked to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
