I believe one of the reasons so many people enjoy hunting in Louisiana is because we do it right. Not only do we have the best natural resources for harvesting wild game, but we also have hunter education programs that make hunting our state a safer activity than it might be in other places.

Hunter Education Classes are required for anyone who wants to hunt in Louisiana and was born after September 1st, 1969. That means just about everyone who hunts is going to want this information and need this information.

The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Department will host two weekends of hunter education. The first will be in September on the weekend of the 14th. The second session will be in October on the weekend of the 19th. The courses are free and open to all ages.

Class sizes for these courses are limited to 25 people so early registration is encouraged. You may sign up for either weekend of the courses. Online registration is available through the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Here are the dates and times of each class as compiled by KATC television.
