If you love to hunt in Louisiana then your input is urgently needed at 10 am this morning. That's when the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will host an online webinar concerning changes to the state's hunting seasons.

The webinar will be hosted over the Zoom App. It's easily downloaded for most digital devices and you will need to pre-register for today's web-based event. You can complete that registration here.

According to the LDWF website hunters will be able to voice concerns and ask questions about the following:

  • Ban the sale of untested deer urine products in Louisiana. Current regulations prohibit the possession and use of untested deer urine products in Louisiana. This amendment would also ban the sale of untested deer urine products in Louisiana. These actions are part of the LDWF and LWFC’s efforts to prevent chronic wasting disease (CWD) from entering the state.

  • Alter dove hunting season dates in the South Zone for 2020-21. The first split will be held from Sept. 5-16, the second split from Oct. 17-Nov. 29 and the third split from Dec. 19, 2020 - Jan. 21, 2021.

  • Allow UTVs on LDWF Wildlife Management Area (WMA) Physically Challenged Hunter Permit (PCHP) trails. The amendment will allow for the use of ATVs and UTVs on these trails.

If you'd like to see a complete list of items LDWF commissioners have been discussing over the past several months you can find that right here.

The reason for the online meeting is in response to Governor Edwards' Stay-at-Home order. Those who plan on attending the virtual public hearing are requested to log in early and be prepared to ask any questions or voice any concerns they may have about the commission's proposals.
