On Saturday afternoon an officer with the Jennings Police Department observed a vehicle traveling faster than the posted speed. The driver of the vehicle was ordered to pull over. It was during that traffic stop that the officer's suspicions were aroused and that led to a subsequent search of the suspect vehicle.

Following that search, officers placed Brent Joseph Fearheiley of Gonazels under arrest on traffic, weapons, and drug charges.

Fearheiley was booked into the Jeff Davis Parish Jail on the following charges:

  • 2 counts of PWITD Schedule I,
  • PWITD Schedule II,
  • Possession of Schedule III,
  • Possession of a Legend Drug,
  • Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon,
  • Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a CDS,
  • Speeding.

Officers noted that Fearheiley was on parole for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon until May of 2022. His police record also includes a conviction in 2011 on possession with intent involving methamphetamine. It was also noted that Fairheiley was currently out on bond for other narcotics-related charges.

Among the contraband items that were recovered from the vehicle that Fairheiley was driving include a heroin/fentanyl mixture. Police believe the amount of that substance recovered was the equivalent of 9,000 lethal doses. A .45 caliber handgun was also recovered from the suspect vehicle during the search.
