George Strait is the most decorated country music artist ever. Do you have about an hour? That is about how long it would take us to list all of his hits. He has won Entertainer Of The Year, Male Vocalist Of The Year, Video of The Year, and Song of The Year just to name a few.

But here is the burning question. Is The King of Country Music a member of the Grand Ole Opry? The answer is NO, he is not. I couldn't believe it myself when I found out.

My wife and I took a tour of the backstage of the Grand Ole Opry and the guide told us that George Strait is NOT a member of the hallowed institution of country music. Why do you ask?

There are certain criteria you have to meet to become a member and of course, George Strait meets it all. The problem is when you become a member of the Opry, there is a commitment to how many times you have to play at the venue per year. With George living in Texas and during his hay day of touring all over the country, that commitment couldn't be met.

We learned all these facts in the video you are about to watch below. It explains exactly why George is not a member and also explains if George has even ever played the Opry before.

Check it out.

Interesting huh? He is still the King of Country Music no matter if he is a member or not!
