Shucks! is known for its authentic Cajun food, especially its fresh oysters. The original restaurant is located in Abbeville, Louisiana, and has been serving customers since 1995.

Shucks! wasn't always known as Shucks!. That's right, the restaurant originally was started back in 1973 when Harold Hebert, an oyster fisherman, and his wife Doris took over Dupuy’s Oyster Bar in Abbeville, Louisiana. In 1995, they opened a bigger, modern location and renamed it Shucks!, which quickly became a Louisiana favorite.

The rumors of Shucks! coming to Lake Charles dates back to December of 2018, when it was known that Shucks! was looking for a piece of property to buy here in the Lake Area. Well, after nearly 7 years, it's FINALLY happening.

Those in the Lake Charles area won't have to wait any longer as the new Shucks! location is set to open on Monday, May 5th, according to their Facebook Page.
