Is the Star of Bethlehem Coming Back?
Did anyone have the "Star of Bethlehem" returning on their 2020 bingo card? Okay, listen I may sound crazy here but you've heard of the so-called "Christmas Star" right? According to NASA the "The Christmas" star will be putting on a show for skywatchers all over the country on Monday, December 21st. Jupiter and Saturn will align to form a gorgeous massive looking star this happens every 20 years right around Christmas time which is where it gets, its name from.
However according to NASA the reason why this "Christmas Star" Is more special than ever is that "It’s been nearly 400 years since the planets passed this close to each other in the sky, and nearly 800 years since the alignment of Saturn and Jupiter occurred at night, as it will for 2020". Yup, we are about to witness a very sweet and rare conjunction.
Astronomy.com started calling the "Christmas Star," the "Star of Bethlehem" after pointing out that such a rare event was recorded in the Bible. The great story of Jesus being born. Being a pastor's kid I heard this story in-depth every Christmas season.
The First Christmas, the Star of Bethlehem led the three wise men to find Jesus. However, the question I always had, was there really that powerful of a star or is air pollution really that bad? I can't wait to take in the beautiful night sky tonight. NASA can call it what they like, as for me and my house we will view the "Star of Bethlehem".
