JERUSALEM (AP) — Both the Israelis and the Palestinians appear to be digging in their heels as negotiations on a longer-lasting peace continue in Cairo.

Israeli Cabinet Minister Gilad Erdan told Israel Radio today that Israel will respond if Hamas resumes fire after a temporary three-day truce expires Friday morning.

Nearly a month of fighting has killed nearly 1,900 Palestinians, 64 Israeli soldiers and three civilians in Israel.
