Louisiana Restaurant Leaves Crawfish Out for Those in Need
(KTDY) - A restaurant in North Louisiana is being applauded by many social media users for leaving food out for those who may not have had a meal one night.
Clawdaddy's Crawfish & Oyster Bar in Monroe, Louisiana, announced on their social media page that they had overcooked boiled crawfish one night this week, and rather than just throwing the extra seafood away, they decided to offer it to those who may not have had a meal that night.
According to their social media post, they already had about 70 pounds of extra boiled crawfish, so they divided it into 3-pound portions and left it out for those who may not have had a recent meal.
Many who saw this showed up at the restaurant's location in Monroe and helped themselves.
Of course, some on social media reported that they showed up and none were left, so they questioned the authenticity of the post, and the restaurant came back with a video showing people picking up the food left behind.
So many people in our communities are experiencing food insecurity, and I can't help but applaud Clawdaddy's Crawfish & Oyster Bar for doing what they did. Someone in their community got a hot meal who may have otherwise not have had something to eat, and I hope their generosity and story inspire other Louisiana restaurants to do the same.
Rather than tossing extra food out at the end of the night, perhaps restaurants could use social media, which was designed for that purpose, to announce that they, too, want to feed others who may not otherwise have a meal.
Here's their social media post from Monroe.
Then, to prove they actually leave food out for those in need, the restaurant posted this video from outside the establishment showing people picking up hot meals.
