Road Closure Set for Catahoula Highway as $12M Project Continues
ST. MARTIN PARISH, La. (KMDL-FM) - A temporary road closure is set to impact part of Catahoula Highway as a major infrastructure project continues in the area.
LA 96 Closure Details
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says LA 96 will be closed to all commercial vehicles just over a mile west of its intersection with LA 352. The closure begins Tuesday, April 7 at 7 a.m. and will remain in place through Tuesday, May 5 at 7 a.m., weather permitting.
Officials say local traffic will still be allowed through, with a designated alternate route in place.
What Work Is Being Done
The closure is part of the ongoing $12 million LA 96 Preservation Project. Crews will be installing new drainage structures across the roadway — work DOTD says is critical to improving the road’s long-term durability and performance.
