Lafayette Utilities System Issues Boil Water Advisory Affecting Multiple Areas
The Lafayette Utilities System (LUS) has issued a Boil Water Advisory, alerting residents and businesses in specific areas of the city to exercise caution with their water usage. The affected areas are bound by South College Road to the north, Willow Street to the south, East Pinhook Road to the west, and Bertrand Drive to the east.
According to the advisory, customers in these locations are urged to boil their water for at least one full minute before using it for any form of consumption, including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation. The advisory specifies that the one-minute boiling time starts only after the water has reached a rolling boil.
According to our news team at KPEL-FM, at least one school (Myrtle Place) has been dismissed early due to this issue.
The announcement comes as LUS is making efforts to ensure the safety and quality of the water supply. The Boil Water Advisory will remain in place until water pressure has returned to normal levels, and the water samples collected are cleared by the Louisiana Department of Health- Office of Public Health.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to keep abreast of updates from LUS and the Louisiana Department of Health to know when the advisory will be lifted.
