Man Accused Of Shooting Woman in Louisiana, Driving To Tennessee With Body In Passenger Seat

BATON ROUGE, La. — A Baton Rouge man is awaiting extradition to Louisiana after police say a traffic stop hundreds of miles away uncovered the body of a woman who had been shot.

Tyronne Brazille, 50, was taken into custody in Memphis, Tennessee, on Thursday, August 13, after officers pulled him over for a traffic violation, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department.

What officers reportedly discovered inside the vehicle quickly turned the traffic stop into a homicide investigation.

Police said 50-year-old Lanessa Bradford was dead in the passenger seat of Brazille’s vehicle. Authorities said she had suffered a gunshot wound.

Police Say Shooting Happened At Baton Rouge Park

Investigators traced Bradford’s death back to Independence Community Park in Baton Rouge.

According to BRPD, investigators believe Brazille and Bradford were together at the park when the two became involved in a verbal argument. Police allege Brazille then shot Bradford.

Authorities say Brazille left Baton Rouge after the shooting with Bradford’s body still inside the vehicle. Another local report indicates he traveled through multiple states before eventually being stopped by Memphis police.

Baton Rouge and Memphis are separated by hundreds of miles, making what began as an alleged shooting at a Louisiana park an investigation stretching across state lines.

Traffic Violation Ends Alleged Trip Across Multiple States

Police have not publicly detailed what traffic violation prompted Memphis officers to stop Brazille.

That stop, however, ultimately led officers to Bradford and Brazille’s arrest.

Brazille was taken into custody in Tennessee as a fugitive, according to Baton Rouge police. He is now awaiting extradition back to Louisiana.

Murder Charge Expected In Baton Rouge

BRPD says Brazille will face a murder charge in connection with Bradford’s death once he is returned to Baton Rouge.

Authorities have not released additional information about the relationship between Brazille and Bradford or further details about what allegedly led to the argument at Independence Community Park.
