Jeanerette Man Identified As Suspect In Officer-Involved Shooting
26-year-old Jeffery Lee Marks of Jeanerette has been identified as the injured suspect in an officer-involved shooting in Jeanerette on Thursday night.
It all started when a JCMO Marshal attempted to pull over a vehicle Marks was driving. La. State Police say Marks allegedly refused to pull over, leading the Marshal on a pursuit that led to a dead end on Ira Street. That's when authorities say Marks and an unidentified passenger allegedly tried to get away on foot. It was sometime during this point that the Marshal shot Marks, whose injury was non-life threatening.
The passenger was apprehended by JCMO Marshals.
The Marshal was not injured.
Marks has been arrested for aggravated assault on a Peace Officer and has been booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.
Charges are pending on the other suspect as well.
The investigation will continue. No further information is available at this time.
