John Schneider’s Song Dedicated to F.E.M.A. [VIDEO]
Many in South Louisiana are still recovering from the epic flood in August 2016. John Schneider was one of those affected by the devastating rains. During the recovery efforts John has been documenting the progress, or in many cases, the lack of progress in the recovery to raise awareness for those who are still struggling to get back to normal. John is part a benefit performance called 'Red Stick Together' coming up on Sunday in Repentance Park in Downtown Baton Rouge. Artists include John Schneider along with Lonestar, Mark Chesnutt, Mickey Gilley, Aaron Tippin, Tracy Byrd and many more. For the event, John decided to write a song dedicated to the government agency that many feel let them down. Here's the first verse and chorus:
You came down on your big white horse to help us after the flood, but you took all the motel rooms, left us out in the mud. I hope your bed is warm, your coffee's hot, excuse me I don't mean to fuss. I'm sure they left the light on for you, but what about us? So let's all fly a finger to FEMA. FEMA, that don't mean you're number 1. We'd like to take that letter that you just marked DENIED, and stick it where the sun won't ever shine. So, from all of us who you left homeless, we're gonna raise our hands up high, and all fly a finger to FEMA.
Two more verses are coming.and the song will be performed at a benefit concert to raise money for affected citizens in Louisiana.
Here's the information on the big show on Sunday, September 25th.
