Jussie Smollett is speaking out after many months of silence in the wake of the alleged staged attack that had the country tuning in to the actor's every word.

In early 2019, Jussie Smollett became a suspect in an attack on himself that many believe was staged. The charges made against Smollett were dropped, but that did not sit well with President Trump who said at the time the case would be reviewed by the FBI and DOJ. While felony charges were dropped, Smollett has still been dealing with legal battles in Chicago over the past couple of years.

He spoke with journalist Marc Lamont Hill on Instagram Live and you can see the full interview here (Smollett joins in at 40:30)

While Hill pressed Smollett about details both connected directly and indirectly to the 2019 attack, the actor kept a tight lip due to his ongoing court cases saying, "I'm still taking the advice of my attorneys".

Although details about Smollett's ongoing legal battles were not disclosed in the interview, he did feel unlikely that he would be successful in his next court appearance by saying, "They won't let this go. It doesn't matter. There is an example being made".

That is when Smollett made it clear that he maintains his innocent in the case of the staged attack on himself by saying, "... the sad thing is that there's an example being made of someone that did not do what they're being accused of".

Hill asked Smollett what he thought of people who are accusing him of creating the staged attack. Smollett had this reply,

I'm a human being like everybody else. I ingest the media and I read the headlines and all that type of stuff. And I've been guilty of taking things at face value as well. But when you see that happening and they talking about you. You know it's not true. Somehow it becomes different. - Jussie Smollett

You can watch the full interview that is attached above and decide for yourself how you feel about Jussie Smollett. Whatever happens, I hope the truth comes out so that Mr. Smollett can move on with his life accordingly.
