It's the end of an era for the daytime television drama Days of Our Lives. After 37 years as the venerable Hope Williams Brady, Kristian Alfonso is leaving the wildly popular soap opera. The show is set to resume production on September 1st, and Alfonso stated that she has already filmed her last performance on the series. The series, which has been on the air almost every weekday since 1965, was put on hiatus last November, and then was renewed for a 56th season.

The show also announced a new digital series called Last Blast Reunion, which stars nine members of the 2000 season, and will premiere on November 29. Each episode will be between seven and ten minutes long, and will be released every Thursday on the DOOL app.

Alfonso has played Hope since 1983. In 2002 she received a special fan award at the Daytime Emmys for "America's Favorite Couple" with her co star and on camera husband Peter Reckell. You can see her Instagram post announcing her departure below, along with the famous opening sequence of the show. We'll miss you, Hope.
