Lafayette Home Damaged By Fire
LAFAYETTE--Firefighters say the Debaillon Street home that caught fire early this morning had been vacant for more than a year.
According to Lafayette Fire Department spokesman Alton Trahan, that fire began just before 6:00. That home sustained substantial damage. Another home next door, which firefighters say was occupied, sustained minor damage. No one was injured.
Neighbors said they had seen people going to and from the vacant house over the last few days. That home, according to investigators, did not have utilities connected.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. If you have information about the case, call Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS or the Lafayette Fire Department at 291-8716.
