Lafayette Regional Airport Gets Another Multi-Million Dollar Grant
It wasn't even a week ago when U.S. Senator John Kennedy made an announcement that another $4.5 million in federal grant money was coming to Lafayette Regional Airport. Now, another $6.4 million is making its way to LRA courtesy of the Department of Transportation - to fund the reconstruction of the airport apron, a place for aircraft to be loaded, unloaded, fueled and parked.
This time, the Alexandria International Airport also is getting some federal funds - $2.6 million - to improve runways and surrounding areas to make them safer.
"Our airports are a gateway for thousands of people traveling to and from Louisiana every year," said Sen. Kennedy. "These grants will ensure the safety of passengers and crews as they come and go through Lafayette and Alexandria."
