The Louisiana Department of Health has issued its daily update for Sunday, August 23rd. Today's numbers are based on two days of data.

There have been 142,943 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Louisiana. That's 1,223 more reported cases since Friday.

Numbers show that there are 941 reported COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized. That's 110 fewer hospitalizations since Friday.

152 patients are on ventilators across the state. That is 20 fewer than Friday.

The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 is 4605 That is 59 more reported deaths since yesterday.

As of today, 118,120 COVID-19 patients are presumed to have recovered, as of August 17th. That's 24,608 presumed recovered patients since the last report released.

The total number of coronavirus cases that have been in the Acadiana region is 22,658 with 540 total deaths reported.

Lafayette Parish: 8,148 total cases, 106 total deaths

(Up 45 reported cases since Friday; Up 3 reported deaths since Friday)

Iberia Parish: 2,661 total cases, 81 total deaths

(Up 13 reported cases since Friday; No reported death since Friday.)

St. Martin Parish: 1,836 total cases, 51 total deaths

(Up 9 reported cases since Friday; Up 1 reported death since Friday.)

St. Mary Parish: 1,720 total cases, 65 total deaths

(Up 9 reported cases since Friday; Up 0 reported deaths since Friday.)

St. Landry Parish: 3,000 total cases, 107 total deaths

(Up 24 reported cases since Friday; Up 2 reported deaths since Friday.)

Acadia Parish: 2,743 total cases, 92 total deaths

(Up 8 reported cases since Friday; Up 0 reported deaths since Friday)

Evangeline Parish: 1,004 total cases, 22 total deaths

(Up 9 reported cases since Friday; Up 2 reported deaths since Friday.)

Vermilion Parish: 1,784 total cases, 35 total deaths

(Up 16 reported cases since Friday; Up 3 reported deaths since Friday.)

The numbers are updated and released every day except Saturdays at noon.
