The Louisiana Department of Health has issued its daily update for Friday, June 19th.

This comes after LDH did not release a case update on Thursday.

There are now 48,515 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Louisiana. That is 119 fewer reported cases since last report.

LDH says they have implemented a new process for improved de-duplication and parish assignment of data received from labs around the state. In doing so, LDH says they identified a total of 1,666 existing duplicate cases as well as cases of out-of-state residents. These have been removed in the updated case count today.

Numbers show that there are 561 reported COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized - 24 fewer than last report.

75 patients are on ventilators across the state. That is 8 fewer patients since last report.

The total number of deaths reported due to the coronavirus is now at 2,972, an increase of 22 since last report.

As of today, 37,017 COVID-19 patients are presumed to have recovered. That's 3,113 more recovered patients since last week.

The total number of coronavirus cases in the Acadiana region is 3,736 with 228 deaths reported.

Lafayette Parish: 1,310 cases, 32 deaths

St. Martin Parish: 483 cases, 28 deaths

St. Landry Parish: 453 cases, 55 deaths

Acadia Parish: 639 cases, 32 deaths

(Up 14 reported cases, Up 0 reported deaths since last report)

Evangeline Parish: 120 cases, 1 death

(Up 20 reported cases, Up 0 reported deaths since last report)

Vermilion Parish: 121 cases, 5 deaths

(Up 22 reported cases, Up 0 reported deaths since last report)
