LDH: May 27th Louisiana COVID-19 Update
The Louisiana Department of Health has issued its daily update for Wednesday, May 27th.
There are now 38,497 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Louisiana. That number is up 443 since yesterday.
Numbers show that there are 798 reported COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized - 33 fewer than yesterday.
The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Louisiana has fallen below 800 for the first time since late March and down from the peak of 2134 people on April 13th. A falling hospitalization rate is one of the factors state officials use to decide how and when restrictions on public gatherings and business can be eased.
100 patients are on ventilators across the state. That is three fewer patients than yesterday
The total number of deaths reported due to the coronavirus is now at 2,617 an increase of 21 since yesterday.
As of today, 28,700 COVID-19 patients are presumed to have recovered. That's 2,451 more recovered patients since last week.
The total number of coronavirus cases in the Acadiana region is 2,469 with 190 deaths reported.
Lafayette Parish: 689 cases, 24 deaths
(11 new cases since yesterday, 1 new death)
Iberia Parish: 403 cases, 37 deaths
(10 new cases and no new deaths since yesterday.)
St. Martin Parish: 292 cases, 22 deaths
(1 new case, no new deaths)
St. Mary Parish: 308 cases, 29 deaths
(4 new cases, no new deaths reported since yesterday.)
St. Landry Parish: 252 cases, 53 deaths
(3 new cases, 1 new death reported since yesterday)
Acadia Parish: 397 cases, 22 deaths
(2 new cases, 4 new deaths reported since yesterday)
Evangeline Parish: 75 cases, 1 death
(0 new cases, 0 new deaths reported since yesterday)
Vermilion Parish: 53 cases, 3 deaths
(2 new cases, no new deaths since yesterday.)
