LDWF Offers Dove Lease Fields for Season Open September 3rd
On September 3rd Louisiana hunters will welcome the start of a new dove season and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife is offering some lease fields for hunters to try their luck and their skill. The fields in DeRidder and Colfax will offer hunters a place to hunt dove this weekend. There will also be other LDWF fields made available in several Wild Life Management Areas.
You may obtain a permit to hunt on these fields via the LDWF website. You should know that both hunts will begin a Noon on Saturday. There is a registration fee too. The fee is $10 for adults plus a $5 convenience fee. Kids aged 17 and under are not required to pay the registration fee.
Hunters who are interested in the fields near DeRidder will be pleased to know you'll have two options from which to choose. One field is located on the north side of US 190 about five miles west of the US 171/Highway 27 intersection. That field will have 115 acres of shredded corn.
The second field located near DeRidder is located on the south side of Glendale Road at Planer Mill Road. That location will feature 150 acres of shredded corn. Both the US 190 field and the Glendale Road field will open to the public at 9 am.
For those of you who want to travel into Central Louisiana to hunt doves, there will be another lease field made available by LDWF near Colfax Louisiana. That field is on the north side of Highway 492 about two miles west of the Highway 492 intersection with Highway 71. That field will have 110 acres of shredded corn and 90 acres of milo. That field will be open to the public at 8 am.
