Looting At Citi Trends In Northside Lafayette Caught On Viral Videos
Video of looters on the northside of Lafayette is currently circulating on social media.
On Friday (Aug 21) Lafayette Police killed 31-year-old Trayford Pellerin after responding to "a disturbance involving a person armed with a knife." Almost immediately, protesters organized and began to gather around the Shell station where the incident took place.
After a weekend of protests throughout the city, a large crowd gathered in a large parking lot near the site of the fatal officer-involved shooting on Sunday night where multiple reports of looting were reported at the Citi Trends store on the northside of Lafayette.
Gunshots can be heard in the video, and while we don't know if they are connected, there were also reports of a shooting overnight as well in the same area.
Community leaders who organized protests earlier in the weekend spoke out, condemning the looters and "outside" agitators.
