PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — Heavy rains that drenched the East as part of a storm that started Sunday in the Midwest are showing signs of moving out to sea.

But storms yesterday left people stranded on rooftops, in attics and in their cars while awaiting rescue from high water.

Some roads collapsed or washed out.

A 67-year-old Florida driver is one of 37 people killed during the rain and tornadoes this week.
