BREAUX BRIDGE, La. (AP) — A Louisiana man accused of setting fire to a trailer owned by his former in-laws has been arrested more than a year after the blaze.

KATC-TV reports the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal says 41-year-old Nelson Santignan was taken into custody Monday by St. Martin Parish sheriff's deputies.

A news release from the state agency's spokesperson Ashley Rodrigue says investigators were called to determine the cause of the July 2018 fire in Breaux Bridge. Investigators found the fire was intentionally set.

Rodrigue says witness statements revealed Santignan was the homeowner's former son-in-law and was seen leaving the trailer as smoke started coming from it. A warrant had been issued for his arrest.

It's unclear whether Santignan had an attorney who could comment on his behalf.
