A new beautification initiative was announced today in Lafayette.

City-Parish President Joey Durel says Project Front Yard will be a multi-year initiative that focuses on reducing litter in Lafayette, while also improving gateway and streetscape appearances.

Along with carrying out some aspects of the Lafayette Comprehensive Plan, Chief Development Officer Kevin Blanchard says a new Lafayette Consolidated Government employee will focus on litter enforcement, and officials are set to revamp existing civil, criminal and traffic laws pertaining to trash.

The project is backed by heads within the government, business and education communities, along with local media outlets — including this one, Townsquare Media.
