No Reason Given For Mamou Police Chief’s Resignation

No details have yet surfaced as to why Mamou Police Chief Robert McGee resigned today except for a date for upcoming legal proceedings.

Mamou Mayor Ricky Fontenot told our news partner, KATC, McGee will appear in federal court in Lafayette on October 13. The hearing is related to McGee's resignation.

McGee, elected to the position last November, revealed few details of his resignation in an apologetic Facebook post that he wrote Wednesday night. McGee wrote an incident occurred five years ago that he deemed "was not right." The incident apparently involved the FBI.
