We've all seen this happening, and it's time for it to stop.

I can't tell you how many times I've been in traffic and watched cars and trucks ZOOM by school buses while their red lights are flashing. For those who don't know how school buses work, the red lights and huge stop signs that flap out when the bus is stopped means that children are either entering or exiting the bus.

A new law in Canada is cracking down on people who ignore the red flashing lights and I'm wondering if we should enforce the same law here in Louisiana.

According to CBC News, "drivers who don’t stop for a school bus will lose their license for three months and could face a fine of up to $5,000."

In order to get their license back, the drivers must meet with highway safety officials, pay a $100 fee to get their license back and take a defensive driving course within six months of having their license reinstated.

With the number of children who are hit or nearly hit getting on and off school buses, hopefully, this law can make an immediate change.

Do you think we should enforce this law or something similar?
