Several Louisiana Mardi Gras Parades Canceled or Postponed on Sunday
The weather is quite nasty across much of Louisiana today, and as a result, many Mardi Gras parades have been scratched across the state.
In the Acadiana area, organizers of the Krewe of Ezana Mardi Gras parade in Jeanerette have decided to cancel their festivities today. Unfortunately, the parade won't be rescheduled.
This parade was originally scheduled for 1:00 pm, but again, it will not run due to the inclement weather.
The cancellation of this parade didn't go without some controversy. Instead of refunding parade entries, the organization is applying those funds to 2026.
As you can see in the comments of the above post, many are not too happy about this decision.
Over in the New Orleans area, several parades have been rescheduled due to Sunday's heavy rains and thunderstorms.
Below is a synopsis of the changes happening with Crescent City parades originally scheduled for Sunday, February 23rd:
- The Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale parade scheduled for 11:00 am Sunday will now roll Tuesday at 5:30 pm on an abbreviated Uptown route. Femme Fatale and the two parades that follow now will be floats-only, without bands, dance troupes, or marching elements
- The Krewe of Carrollton parade scheduled for 12:30 pm Sunday will now roll Tuesday at 6:30 pm, following Femme Fatale
- The Krewe of King Arthur parade scheduled for 1:00 pm Sunday will now roll Tuesday at 7:30 pm, following Femme Fatale and Carrollton
- The Mystic Krewe of Barkus dog parade scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday in the French Quarter will be postponed to March 9 at 2:00 pm, the Sunday following Fat Tuesday.
- Sunday’s scheduled T Marie & Bayou Juju post-Barkus concert and BYOD (Bring Your Own Dog) event at the Historic BK House & Gardens has been canceled.
