Shooting Occurs During Domestic Violence

Last night around 9:30 pm, Lafayette Police responded to an apartment complex in the 200 block of Oakcrest Drive regarding a shooting.  According to responding officers, the suspect entered his residence and found a male inside with his spouse.  The suspect produced a gun and fired multiple times at the male victim, striking him once in the arm.  The suspect then allegedly physically abused the spouse prior to police arriving on the scene.

Lafayette Police have arrested Ratib Bader Abuelouf (28) of Lafayette and charged him with Attempted 2^nd Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault and Domestic Abuse Battery. The male victim was transported to an area hospital where he remains in stable condition. The female victim suffered minor injuries.  The case remains under investigation.
