Dr. G.E. Ghali, Chancellor at Shreveport's Louisiana State University Health Science Center, talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about his school's efforts in fighting to halt the spread of the Coronavirus.

Ghali tells KEEL listeners that COVID 19 "is consuming every part of our day, from the entire administrative team, as well as our clinical partners and even the Ochsner folks on the other side of the campus, it's a twenty four - seven deal."

The Chancellor also explains the medical school's growing role in the COVID 19 fight. "We already have a robust and incredibly well known virology department," ha says, adding that their experience in SARS virus research laid the groundwork for this challenge. "What (our) lab allows us to do is test up to about 2,000 samples a day." Ghali says these samples are coming to LSUHSC from all over the country.
