According to the National Hurricane Season, it ties a 1992 record for the most named storms in the western hemisphere at one time. Forecaster Eric Blake said in a tweet, "They're forming like roaches out there..."

Humberto is meandering in the central Atlantic while Jerry continues its westerly track toward the Bahamas. This is happening as now tropical depression Imelda moves inland over eastern Texas.
