Suspect Arrested After Daytime Robbery

On January 28, 2011, at approximately 10:50 am, Lafayette Police received a report of an armed robbery in the 200 block of Production.

According to the reporting person, the suspect entered the Check into Cash business, produced a handgun and demanded money. The clerk turned over an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect fled the store on foot. An officer with the Lafayette Police Department working a seatbelt enforcement detail responded to the area and located the suspect on an adjacent parking lot. The suspect was arrested and found to be in possession of the stolen money and the handgun. No one was injured during the incident.

Arrested was Jeremiah Hazelton (24) of Ville Platte. Hazelton was charged with Armed Robbery and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
