Mayor LaToya Cantrell of New Orleans announced today that takeout sales of alcohol will no longer be allowed, which closes all remaining bars that were operating in take-out capacities in NOLA.

The news was delivered by Danny Monteverde, reporter for WWLTV, via Twitter and you can see the information here @DCMonteverde

The move by Mayor Cantrell applies to restaurants who have been selling 'to-go' drinks as well as drive-thru operations like daiquiri shops.

COVID-19 cases in New Orleans have continued to be a problem with more hospitalizations being reported as well as deaths.

People have still been frequenting Bourbon Street and The French Quarter, buying to-go drinks from establishments in the area. This will no longer be possible with the Mayor's decision, which goes into effect Saturday at 6AM.
