Texas Has at Least 6 Nude Beaches

If you've ever wanted to enjoy some time in the buff on the beach, we have a few suggestions for you in the big and beautiful state of Texas.

There are at least half a dozen nude beaches in the Lone Star State. But, before we give you those exact locations where you can get your buns out when the sun's out, let's set the ground rules.

KNOW THE RULES AT NUDE BEACHES IN TEXAS

If you are enticed by the idea of visiting a nude beach, go ahead and adhere to some of the unwritten rules of being in the buff by the water with other strangers:

• Before taking off your clothes, make sure you can do so once you've reached the clothing-optional sections. Go ahead and keep your clothes on in the parking lot, washrooms, common areas, pathways on the premises, etc.
• Respect others on the beach. Don't stare, make fun of, or point at strangers. The nude beach is a no-judgment zone.
• Do not hit on others on the beach or ask anyone out for a date.
• Do not take pictures. Come on now, that's not cool.
• Do not engage in sexual activity or make sexual advances.
• If nude beaching is new to you and you aren't very comfortable being naked, find something to distract you such as reading a book or listening to music to blend in.
• Keep your distance. Since everyone is naked, it's just courteous to keep a little distance between you and others on the beach.
• Carry a towel. You will need it to sit on the sand and after bathing.
• Sunscreen, people! You have nothing covering anything.

NOW, WHERE ARE THEM NUDE BEACHES IN TEXAS, ALREADY?

Here is your handy-dandy guide to finding the best nude beaches in Texas. Below are the six that we are aware of:

Barton Springs Pool Beach - It's not a traditional top-to-bottom nude venue, but beachgoers are known to go topless here. Location: 2201 Barton Springs Road, Austin 

Bolivar/McFaddin Nude Beach - Located near Port Arthur, this is arguably one of the best nude beaches in Texas. The nude section of the beach is three miles east of the junction of highways 124 and 97. Only a deserted strip is designated for nudity. Location: Just east of the city of High Island

Emerald Lake Resort - This is actually a nudist resort near Houston that has camping areas, an exclusive lake, and a pool that welcomes naturism lovers. Location: 23198 TX-494 Loop, Porter

Hippie Hollow Park - Technically, it's the only "official" clothing-optional beach in Texas. It's located on steep limestone rocks over Lake Travis. So yeah, you'll have to take a bit of a hike to reach the beach through the rugged, rocky terrain. Location: 7000 Comanche Trail, Austin

Padre Island National Seashore - This one is also not an "official" clothing-optional beach, but it is still considered one of the secluded nude beaches in Texas. The beach itself is 60 miles in length and it has many hidden areas to drop your swimsuits. Location: Padre Island

UFO Beach - The name has nothing to do with aliens. Locals found an evacuation pod that drifted ashore in 2010 after an intense storm. The pod looked like a flying saucer, hence, the locals gave the beach the name, UFO Beach. Location: South Padre Island
