Southwest Louisiana Law Services is sounding the alarm that hundreds and thousands of Louisiana residents are going to lose their coverage if they don't act soon. On April 1 the state started vetting the system of people who are deemed "ineligible."

The state is checking to see if people who are on Medicaid, can remain on the program. If no one has called you, and you are on Medicaid, you need to call them. It is your responsibility to make sure they have a good contact for you.

If the state can not reach you, there is a very good chance that you can be dropped. Even more concerning, is that you may not even get a notice that you've been cut off. Therefore to keep your coverage it is critical that you call Medicaid and ensure that your information is up-to-date in the system.

HERE ARE FOUR THINGS YOU SHOULD DO:

1.) Call Medicaid at 1-888-342-6207 (between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.) or your own health plan.
2.) Update your info online: MyMedicaid.la.gov.
3.) You can e-mail the Medicaid program: MyMedicaid@la.gov
4.) Visit a Medicaid Office near you. Lake Charles Office - 620 Esplanade Street
Suite. 201 (337) 475-3133 - office hours 8 am - 4:30 pm.

If you get a letter from the Louisiana Department of Health about your Medicaid, act immediately. For more information click HERE.
