The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office announced on Sunday that a vehicle was discovered in the Atchafalaya River in Melville.

The Melville Police Department notified SLPSO of the vehicle in the water.

Because it was not known at the time if someone was inside the vehicle, the Search and Rescue dive team was contacted and responded to the incident.

After a search, thankfully, no one was found inside and the vehicle was safely removed from the waterway.

While very few details are known at this time, it appears from the pictures that the vehicle is a truck. And many on social media have speculated that it was submerged for quite some time.
