It won't be long before casinos across the region begin to reopen. We actually found one in Oklahoma that is back open for limited gambling.

Tonkawa Hotel and Casino

The Tonkawa Hotel and Casino in Tonkawa, Oklahoma opened at noon on Friday. This casino is about 500 miles from Shreveport Bossier on the border with Kansas. This reopening does include a limit of 300 guests and you must wear a face mask and get your temperature checked at the entrance. Also, no table games are open and only some of the slot machines are operating.

7 Clans Casinos

The First Council casino in Newkirk, Oklahoma opens Saturday, May 2nd for an "invitation only" VIP guest list. This phased in approach will be happening over the next couple of weeks at the other 4 locations. The hours at the Newkirk Casino will be 4pm until midnight. Table games are not opening at this time. This casino is also about 500 miles from the SBC near the Kansas border.

We don't expect any of the casinos in Shreveport Bossier to be open before June 1st, but other casinos in Oklahoma are gearing up to open in mid-may.

We checked several of them to find out the plan.

The decision to reopen the casinos is up to each Indian tribe. But they will all be putting new health and safety protocols in place.

Temperature checks of guests will likely be done with thermal cameras at the entrances. Guests with a temp over 100 degrees will not be allowed to enter.

All employees will be wearing masks and gloves. Guests may also be required to wear them too. Some slot machines will now automatically turn off after each guest and can not be turned back on until it is cleaned. Also, if you sit down at one machine, the two machines next to that machine will turn off.

Some casinos are considering putting up Plexiglas dividers between machines and seats at table games.

KFOR reports a sign company in Vegas has been busy making these dividers for casinos across the country. James Swanson of Screaming Images in Las Vegas tells the TV station:

We built a little cubical area thing that is non-invasive, does not have to be screwed into the table. Its real easy to assemble. Its inexpensive, its just a temporary solution for them to get thru until everything can go back to normal again,
