The new PokemonGo! app has law enforcement across the country warning parents and kids to think about safety so that they don't become a victim.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office has some advice for anyone looking to get a Pokemon.

Officials say since the release of the game, they have had multiple complaints of suspicious people, due to people playing the game.

St. Mary Parish officials suggest the following tips for you safety:

• Don't stop in the middle of the road. If you are trying to catch a Pokemon, park your car and go get it. Don't block traffic.
• Don't become distracted why playing.
• Pay attention to your surroundings.
• Never put yourself in a dangerous place or situation.
• Don't go onto someone's property. Trespassing will get you in trouble.
• Pay attentioin to developing weather, and don't overdo it in heat.
