The U-S House Natural Resources Committee holds a hearing today in Houma so they can hear from south Louisiana residents and businesses that have been impacted by the drop in Gulf of Mexico oil production. Minden Congressman John Fleming is a member of the committee. Fleming says Gulf of Mexico Oil production has dropped from a peak of one-point-seven million barrels a day to 1.59 million barrels. He says the President's energy policy and the slow process of issuing deepwater drilling permits is taking away jobs from the gulf coast. The meeting begins at nine o' clock this morning at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center. Fleming says Chairman Doc Hastings of Washington and the rest of the committee is committed to oil production in the gulf.
