The veteran community will gather to bid a final salute to their friend and patriot, Lloyd A. King, who passed away on March 27, 2018, in Missouri after a short illness.

King’s final resting place is in Arlington National Cemetery.

King served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. As squad leader with B CO, 2ND BN, 327TH INFANTRY, 101 ABN DIV “No Slack”; he served in Cam Ranh Bay, Ben Hoa, I-Corp, and the A Shau Valley.

For his combat service in Vietnam, SSGT King was awarded the following medals: Silver Star Medal, Bronze Star Medal with a “V” for valor, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Gold Star and 2 Air Medals.

The memorial service, sponsored by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, William Mackenzie Chapter 504, is scheduled for 9 am on Saturday, June 9, 2018.

The event will be held Walters Funeral Home 2424 N. University Ave Lafayette, La.
