The flu season is getting an early start here in Acadiana as well as statewide.  Flu season normally peaks in February or even March.

State Health officials are seeing a large number of reported cases.  The Stafford Walk in Clinic in Lafayette has experienced a spike in flu cases.  Spokesman David Trivanovich says they're seeing an increase in the flu and flu related illnesses.

Health officials are advising everyone to do their part and get a flu shot to prevent the flu from spreading.

Flu shots are readily available all over Acadiana, however if you're looking for the flu mist there aren't many places you'll find the mist.  Most pharmacies are out.   Remember, it takes up to two weeks for protection from the shot to develop.
