UPDATE: Students Back In School After Acadiana High School Evacuation
The Lafayette Parish School System confirms that Acadiana High School was evacuated today after a student found a note stating there was a bomb in the school that would go off in an hour.
The student gave the note to a teacher, and as is standard procedure, the school was evacuated.
Scott Police say they are almost done sweeping the school, and students have been returned to classes.
As a precaution, students have been sent to the the school's stadium.
Scott Police Chief Chad Leger says several bomb sniffing dogs from surrounding areas were called in to help out.
He says he hopes that these types of incidents will not happen again in the future. He says he they have a gew young people they are looking at they may have mad the note, and any and all charges that apply will be forthcoming for the responsible party.
