Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns used an 18-0 run to turn a 71-61 lead into an 89-61 blowout en route to a 105-74 thrashing of North Texas Thursday night at the Cajundome.

Two Jordan Williams free throws with 9:14 left cut the Cajuns' lead to ten, but layups by Shawn Long and Bryant Mbamalu preceded three point baskets by Long and Alan-Michael Thompson, a putback by Elridge Moore, a layup by Mbamalu, and dunks by Elfrid Payton and Moore to cap the run.

The win gave the Cajuns (8-15, 4-8 Sun Belt) a season sweep over the Mean Green (8-15, 3-9)..  North Texas only led once, at 1-0 on a Williams free throw before the Cajuns had a 17-4 run over the next six minutes.

North Texas closed the gap to eight points, 45-37 at halftime and cut the Cajuns lead to 47-43 with 18:28 to go.  But the Mean Green would get no closer.

Payton led the Cajuns with 24 poitns, including 10-13 from the free throw line and added nine assists, five turnovers and four steals in 36 minutes of action.  He did not have a single turnover in the contest.  Shawn Long added 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Mbamalu, playing his first game since injuring his thumb against South Alabama on January 10th, chipped in with 18 points in 28 minutes off the bench.  Moore was the fourth Cajun in double figures with 10 points.

Jordan Williams led North Texas with 31 points on 12-17 shooting.  Alzee Williams added 14 and Roger Franklin ten.  Tony Mitchell, who is a certain first round pick in the upcoming NBA draft, was held to seven points and five rebounds in 25 minutes due to foul trouble.

The Cajuns now head to Troy, Alabama to take on the Trojans Saturday night.
