Correctional Officer Arrested And Charged With Government Benefit

(St. Martinville, LA.)-Yesterday, information was received by the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office relative to a potential fraud complaint involving a Correctional Officer. The employee was immediately placed on administrative leave, and a criminal investigation was initiated.

As a result of the investigation, Detectives with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Kaneshia Francis, 29, St. Martinville, LA., for forging a document and providing false information in an attempt to fraudulently obtain food stamp benefits.

Following her arrest, she was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on the following charge:

LA R.S.-14:70.9-Government Benefits Fraud (Felony)

Subsequent to her arrest, her employment with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office was terminated.
