Throughout the course of the coronavirus pandemic, there has been "one thing" that most Americans have been asking for. That "thing" is clear concise information about the disease that is not tainted with a political spin. Residents of Louisiana Department of Health Regions 4 and 5 will be able to get those answers in a special virtual event planned for Monday, April 12th.

All Things Covid-19 Vaccine — A Tele-Townhall for Sharing Information and Answers will be hosted online on April 12th beginning at 6:30 and lasting until 8 pm. The event will be moderated by the CEO of the Louisiana Public Health Insitute Shelina Davis and Dr. Earl Benjamin-Robinson who is the  Louisiana Department of Health's Office of Community Partnership.

The two hosts will be joined by faith-based leaders, community leaders, and the regional medical directors for Region 4, Dr. Tina Stefanski, and Region 5 Dr. Lacy Cavanaugh.

The purpose of the online event is to answer questions, address concerns, debunk myths, and take direct questions about COVID-19 and the vaccines that are being offered throughout the state. Vaccination hesitancy is reported by the Louisiana Public Health Institute to be the highest among Louisiana's African-American community and among white women.

There is no charge for the online presentation however registration is required. That can be done online ahead of time by following this link and filling out a few questions.

Results of a recent survey done by the Public Policy Lab at LSU found that nearly one-third of Louisiana residents say they have no plans to ever take a COVID-19 vaccine. State Health officials are hopeful that seminars such as the one being held on April 12th will provide answers to the questions that might be preventing some of those individuals from wanting or getting vaccinated.

Obviously, the decision to get vaccinated is a personal one. We do hope you'll consult your healthcare professional to arrive at a decision that is best for you. And perhaps the "jabbed" and "unjabbed" can agree that a lot of our good health starts with the food we put in our mouth. Perhaps, these foods can help you feel and stay healthy regardless of what your vaccination choice might be.
