
Crime Rate Increases In Lafayette Over 2012
The Lafayette Police Department has released its crime statistics for 2012. While crime did go up overall by 2.4%, there were some positives.
For example, the number of rapes reported in 2012 from 2011 were down by 27%, as well as reported robberies and auto thefts, each by 13%, and assault by 2.5%. But reported homicides doubled over the past year, and reported burglaries and thefts went up by 11% and 4%, respectively.
Also, the totals calls for service increased by 4%.
